Alexander Zharov Calls for Close Attention to Information Security on the Internet
The openness and transparency of the e-economy should not come into conflict with the basic principles of national, public, corporate, and personal security. This statement was made by Alexander Zharov, Head of Roscomnadzor, at the RIF.Sochi Forum held as part of the 15-th Spectrum-2015 Conference.
“Therefore the efforts of the State and the business community in this field should be aimed at reducing the vulnerability of domestic Internet infrastructure, preventing mass distribution of illegal information, and ensuring adequate protection of Russian citizens’ personal data”, he said.
One of the major information security priorities identified by A. Zharov is enhancement of people’s IT literacy. He emphasized again the creation of a domain “.дети” (.children), “intended to provide an informative and safe online environment for the growing generation, as well as for parents and teachers”. Mr. Zharov said that a personal data project for children (“персональныеданные.дети”), launched in that domain on September 1, had been developed by Roscomnadzor with support from the Moscow City Department of Education. “According to feedback available, Mr. Zharov said, the project is a useful information resource for a broad Internet audience interested in the subject of personal data. I hope that, in cooperation with the Internet industry, we will be able to make it better, more informative, and more useful for both children and adult citizens”, Mr. Zharov pointed out.
