Twitter has removed the personal data of the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea at the request of Roskomnadzor
Vladimir Konstantinov, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea addressed the Roskomnadzor at the beginning of May 2014 with a request to render assistance in removing the false account in the Twitter microblog service. The Roskomnadzor forwarded the request to stop the infringement of the Russian law in the field of personal data to Twitter. As of June 18, 2014 the false account is removed by Twitter.
The Roskomnadzor has created a legal proposition regarding false personal pages in social networks. According to the Russian law the distribution of personal data of public people without their consent is allowed by the law exclusively for the achievement of socially significant goals. The attempts to present oneself in a social network as a well-known person are aimed at misleading the audience. Such use of personal data is unambiguously qualified as a violation of the current legislation of the Russian Federation.
